“One more cup of petroleum!”
After hearing a voice in his head for a very long time, our protagonist Kokonose Chuuta is introduced to the expanded world beyond earth where aliens exist in their many life forms and the police force known as elDLIVE.
elDLIVE came off as one of those silly shows with a silly premise, however over the season got more intense as it furthered explored each of its characters, with Chuuta as the main focus and the others revolving around him. With a main story line like that of a detective series, it provided to be one on the less dramatic side, with a focus on comedy and being more light-hearted. It’s characters are where it shines with the use of many different species of aliens. It was nice to see their designs and basically how many different possibilities there may be out there.
With a great focus on variety of its characters it allowed for a great use of variety for the special powers they had, or SPH (Space Pheromones). Opting for this path created many different animated powers with those being highlighted with different colors, making it known as these were unique and distinct to those that use them.
Nina Best Girl!
OP/ED: The OP and ED were probably the stand outs for the anime. With the OP opting for the fast paced, energetic route and the ED contrasting this with a slower ballad like ending, they provided to be fitting for both the start and ending of an anime. The animations also contrasted well focusing on the characters in space for the former, but more of their daily lives on earth in the latter.
ēlDLIVE Was it Good?
For a space detective/crime fighting anime, it ended being on the okay side. It did have its moments of glory and the pacing of the show felt quite well done. It was nice to see the variety and that was probably the standout for it.
Recommendations: There are a variety of anime out there in regards to the use of aliens, on the space detective side it is harder to recommend as there aren’t many similar ones out there. Though there are ones that involve similar organizations fighting or preventing evil from running rampant, thus I recommend the following:
- Sousei no Onmyouji
