Higashida Daisuke is your run of the mill high school student, till one day his dad’s company goes bankrupt and he’s forced to take up a part time job to help the family. WWW.Working!!, is the adaptation of the web series, based of the Working! franchise. At his part time job, he meets many unique individuals where he has to deal with the relationships forged while at work and these individuals unique personalities.
WWW.Working!! seems like working at a family restaurant a life or death mission. With the story revolving around the colorful cast of characters, it was easy to distinguish the certain “uniqueness” about each one. This created a lot of different situations and variety for Higashida to deal with his co workers. It was nice too see this variety as it added a lot to the comedy in which the series is based upon. One scene would be different from others, resulting in a different joke and a different reason to laugh.
With a focus on its cast, it tends to lead to character development over the whole season. Most of it was spent in developing relationships with coworkers, or coworkers developing relationships with each other. This added bit of “romance” in addition with the slice of life elements made it so it seemed realistic, keeping it well grounded and a easy watch.
Nagata Best Girl!
OP/ED: The OP and ED were split between the seiyuu in terms of who sung them. With the female cast singing the OP and the males singing the ED. It’s always nice to see the cast being used for the music within an anime, and the cast here done it well. With a quirky, bubbly tune to start and end each episode, it added nicely to the nonchalant comedy and slice of life genres of the anime.
WWW.Working!! Was it Good?
WWW.Working!! ended up being quite a solid anime, within its confines of its genres. The quirkiness of the characters and their uniqueness are the highlight of this anime. This being paired with a variety of different comedic moments, mixed in with the underlying developing story of its characters and their relationships with each other, resulted in a nice bundle of anime for a season.
Recommendations: With its low barrier of entry, it provides to be a show that could be recommended to anyone. For a slice of life anime, it does have its added comedy and romance elements, which resulted in an anime which could relate to most people. There are other very similar anime out there, thus I recommend the following:
- Servant x Service
- New Game
- Denki-gai no Honya-san
- Gochuumon wa Usagi Desuka?
