“This World is a Lie” Qualidea Code Review and Recommendations

“I am right! I am Justice!”

Qualidea Code brings about an anime which is a roller coaster ride. With all its twists and turns, it provides for a lot of suspense when watching. With the story focusing around the world being invaded by the “Unknown” and having children fight them using their powers or “worlds” it uses a proven formula that works with certain tweaks. There is a heavy emphasis on its cast and how they affect their world, due to their strength and their journey isn’t a soft one.

With a focus on its characters, it really does a good job in having characters with different personalities. Seeing them clash, whilst taking their own actions to each situation was nice too see as it did add a bunch of variety to how problems were solved. These characters develop over the ever changing story line, where the twists and turns were nice added features an turning points to signify a characters development.

On the other hand, Qualidea Code does fit a lot of action within its story. These sequences are appropriately animated with a focus on each of the children’s “worlds” and their use. At times its bright and flashy and sometimes its subtle and simple, where this variety created good change up from one action scene to the next. It was also nice to see that it didn’t shy away from some elements such as death adding a bit more realism to a war between species.

OP/ED: For a 1 cour season, there were a lot of songs, having 2 different OPs and 3 different EDs. Each of these songs and their respective animation sequences matched what was currently occurring in the anime. It seemed very appropriate for this to occur, along with the change and twists in the story. It was also nice to listen to a strong cast of vocals from LiSA, ClariS and GARNiDELiA.

Qualidea Code Was it Good?

There are many different anime out there with very similar elements. Qualidea Code does a solid job in creating a good season around those factors. The best thing about it is probably its plot twists and their ability to change the story. With a heavy emphasis on its characters and action sequences, it goes to say that the variety of them provided for an anime that really matches well together.

Recommendations: Qualidea Code like many other anime out there, creates a world where its humanity vs “x”. With a focus on its characters and how they react to the situation through action sequences and dialogue a nice little bundle is created of those majoring factors, thus I recommend the following:

  • Black Bullet
  • Owari no Seraph
  • Cross Ange: Tenshi to Ryuu no Rondo
  • Sousei no Onmyouji
