Best Anime of 2015: Slice of Life

The slice of life genre is one that may have conflicting views. It depends on the viewers life themselves, whether their own life be really hectic and fast, or something more simple and slow, where they may be use to one but not the other. When it comes to slice of life in anime, a majority of the shows revolve around its comedic value, offering more simpler lives as opposed to the other. Though, it may not be without drama, as drama does occur daily, where it then creates a different atmosphere for that anime. There are a variety of different anime in which harness both simple and dramatic elements really well and this year in anime was no different. With that being said:

Deirii Raifu’s Pick:

Non non Biyori Repeat ‘Cute girls doing cute things’

“This is where you can find the gentlest “Welcome Back” in the world”

2 1

Non non biyori’s 2nd season is basically the epitome of what a slice of life anime is. Generally nothing really much happens in the anime, there are no big events, it is up to the girls to decide what to do daily, living in countryside Japan. The anime provides those heartfelt and heartwarming moments between the characters. Most of the show was held in a comedic sense, where the gags induced laughter. It’s basically one of those shows I sat back, watched and enjoyed without having to think too hard. It brought a smile to my face when I watched it, and I recommend it to anyone who wants something simple, like a slice of life should be.

I watched 2 slice of life this year, and they both made it to the shortlist. Kancolle however beats out Classroom Crisis for first line honours. It was enjoyable watching all the characters interact with each other since all of them have such varying personalities (from Bucky!, to Naka-chan to Nagamon to our British Kongou). Kancolle is a breath of fresh air in the slice of life genre and varies very different from the normal go to school theme. This variety makes it the best slice of life this year.

Runners Up:

2) Classroom Crisis
