Best Anime of 2015: Sci-Fi

The Sci-Fi genre has always been a staple in the umbrella term that is anime. With its ability to basically show what may or may not happen within the future, taking the Sci-Fi path allows for many different story’s to be taken. Whether it be discovering new lands or new alien races/species, developing technology or even just uncovering something that conflicts with our understanding, the Sci-Fi genre is employed in a multitude of ways to provide stories that may reflect humanities future to the anime community. With that being said:

Deirii Raifu’s Pick:

Aldnoah.Zero 2nd Season – ‘Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots’

“Wars break out because there is someone to fight against. To eliminate war, there are two options: Invade and assimilate, or utterly exterminate one’s adversary so that only you remain. Mankind’s history is a history of conflict.”

Through its portrayal of conflict between humans Aldnoah Zero’s 2nd season takes the top spot for the Sci-Fi genre. The use of different “alien” and developed “mecha” human technology excels through the use of combat combining this with the background story provides a sound setting in which may occur in future reality in the war for resources or lack thereof. It is not just this portrayal of war, but what may happen due to the human race exploring off onto distant planets and worlds, discovering new technologies.

A few days ago, I learned what the difference was between Science Fantasy and Sci-Fi, Aldnoah Zero definitively falls in the latter. Aldnoah Zero S2 carries on from season one, combining multiple futuristic Sci-Fi elements to bring a world together in which may be possible in the future. A-1 and TROYCA do a wonderful bringing all these elements to life, allowing us the viewer to experience a Sci-Fi spectacle that almost feels possibly realistic in the future.

2) Plastic Memories
