Best Anime of 2015: Sports

When it comes to sports, there are a variety of different feelings that can be felt. From happiness and satisfaction to frustration and sadness, sports embodies what it means to try hard and put in effort to reach a desired goal. Whether it be through a flashy play, the use of fundamentals or playing in a system, sports excites in many different ways and links others through a common means. With that being said:

Deirii Raifu’s Pick:

Kuroko no Basket 3rd Season – ‘THE LOB! THE JAM!’

“By learning to shine half-heartedly, you can no longer become the shadow.”

When it comes down to it there weren’t many sport anime I watched this year. Kuroko no Basket takes the top spot with its exciting set of different basketball skills. Though inhuman like, it goes to show that putting in effort may yield results. From the struggles to the absolute highs, Kuroko no Basket embodies basically what it is like to play sport with others. There will always be someone better than you out there, but if you rise up to the challenge, you may come out victorious.

Kuroko no Basket S3 – ‘Superstars vs the System’

“I’m fighting together with everyone”

First of all, let me tell you something, I do not agree with the offense and defences used in the show due to my systematic background, but hey it’s an anime. Kuroko provides a simplistic insight into the game of basketball and how a team of unnatural superstar athletes can come together to become a good team. Season 3 of Kuroko no Basket provides plenty of highs, lows and highlight plays, which are perfect for your average viewer. So if you’re into that hype and energy (think Clippers not Spurs), then this is the basketball show for you.

  1. My favorite sports anime this year has to be the second season of Baby Steps. I think its the most realistic sports anime I have seen, and the tension that they can build is awesome.
