“In that case, I’ll relieve you all together!”
The new season of Shinmai Maou no Testament bursts onto the screens in its airing during the fall season of 2015. Continuing off where we left off, with a continuation of the story of one Toujou Basara, the conflict between hero’s and demons and how he fits in with it all with his family.
The most important part to highlight out of the show is that it is a harem, where there is a lot of fan-service. If you are a fan of fan-service you might find the season to be quite plentiful and tasteful, if not, not biggie. This though highlights other areas, where the relationship of the girls and Basara became a important part within seasons tale. Their development (physically, mentally and emotionally) was quite a sight too see mainly due to the master servant pact between them and Basara.
In other areas, the action was done quite well, where there was probably as much action as there was fan-service. With a variety of different enemy’s with different skills and spells, it allowed for easy viewing and the attention span being locked in for each episode. This combined with an upgrade in animation quality since last season (which is generally what occurs over several seasons) allowed for the sequences to flow from one scene to the next, creating a good sense of direction for the story as a whole.
Yuki Best Girl!
OP/ED: The OP had a pop-rock like feel where several of the animations from the dark to bright colors were used magnificently in contrast with each other. The OP had lots of variety, not through its lyrics but through its singers, where it offered a total of 5 different versions. The ED on the other hand had a slower pace, and mainly focused on different landscapes and the characters themselves. It heavily placed an emphasis on the concept of family (through the use of photo’s) matching well with the series overall themes.
Shinmai Maou no Testament BURST Was it Good?
For an anime that mainly highlights its strengths in the genres of harems, fan-service, ecchi and its characters, it is a really good anime. When it came down to other ares such as the animation and action it further enhances how good the anime really is.
Recommendations: With a focus on harems, ecchi and fan-service, Shinmai Maou no Testament BURST offers a lot of variety to those who enjoy those genres and thus I recommend the following:
- Highschool DxD Series
- Shinmai Maou no Testament (First Season)
- Dakara Boku wa, H ga Dekinai
- Campione! Matsurowanu Kamigami to Kamigoroshi no Maou
