With a royal family trying to live their lives as a normal family, under “normal circumstances”, however with a hint of super powers, Production IMS brings you Joukamachi no Dandelion (Castle Town Dandelion). The story is set with the siblings of the Sakurada family, where their father (The King), sets his eyes on his heir via an election decided by the people of his country. Throughout the season we see the many trials and challenges each of the siblings face, and how they try to overcome these obstacles and barriers.
The main attraction towards this show were the characters themselves and how they interacted along with each other. Each main character has a handful of “side” characters which help push each family member along with right path. It was also a nice touch too see some of the backgrounds of these characters explored adding to the overall depth of the anime. The animation throughout the show, was kept quite clean and colorful. This bright animation style made it quite easy to follow, understand the dialogue between characters and made it overall enjoyable to watch.
This is a story about overcoming ones hardships, with most of the anime told from the perspective of our main heroine, Sakurada Akane, it was nice too see they added the perspective of the other family members. It was quite heartwarming to see the characters develop over the course of the season. With both very dramatic and also very comedic moments at times, the balance between the two was done quite well, where it felt enough had been explored in the story and there was enough to give me an enjoyable good laugh.
Akane Best Girl!
OP/ED: The OP and ED possibly could be some of the most catchy ones in their category. With a bright and colorful OP mixing and matching with the lyrics (Rainbow Rainbow!), it was quite suitable with the overall anime, providing energy from the get go. The ED also provided its own energy in its own way, showing each of the characters was maintaining its bubbly and lighthearted side.
Joukamachi no Dandelion Was it Good?
If you’ve read my episode reviews, you should know my stance, if not, Joukamachi no Dandelion is a pretty good anime. With overall lighthearted themes the anime is quite bubbly, colorful and energetic and funny at times, mixed and matched with some drama about maturing, growing up and developing ones resolve to take on a challenge, Joukamachi no Dandelion does a good job in teaching lessons adding value and depth towards its main highlight its characters and their development.
Recommendations: With a good mix of both comedy and drama, whilst maintaining its overall appeal through the season, I recommend the following:
- Inou-Battle wa Nichijou-kei no Naka de
- Rokujouma no Shinryakusha!?
note: Choosing a best girl was really hard and near impossible because:
