“The Strongest Man in the World” Rokka no Yuusha Review and Recommendations

“If you’re trying to get rid of your heart, your heart is making you do it”

Rokka no Yuusha portrays the story of “six” different heroes or “braves” in order to stop the demon lord from taking over the world. This occurs every hundred years or so, however this time there are seven. . We follow Adlet Myer “The Strongest Man in the World” on his journey to stop the “fiends” and the demon lord.

Rokka no Yuusha provides a compelling mystery story surrounded by several subtle hints. The plot twists are fantastic and really keep you on the edge of your seat as more of the mystery of the “seventh” brave is unraveled. Combining this with specific dialogue on top of already fluid action scenes, Passione does an extremely great job in tying everything together throughout the season. With the story being set within an Aztec like civilization it provides are uniqueness to the culture/themes of the anime, not seen in many others.

The characters are interesting themselves, with some given much reason to be a brave and some not so very much. It is an interesting bunch and the interactions between them, whether it being accusations or helping someone are well fleshed out in this anime.

OP/ED: Rokka no Yuusha has probably the most amount of different OP’s and ED’s for a non-omnibus format show I’ve ever seen. However, these OP/ED’s really match well with what was ongoing within the anime at the time, whether it be the focus of a character or the mystery at hand, the music was made to match.

Rokka no Yuusha Was it Good?

Rokka no Yuusha was fantastic, for a mystery based anime with an over arching plot, Rokka no Yuusha sets a good bar for mystery anime too come. The characters add an increased depth towards the show, through their interactions and different personalities. It certainly generates hype for the second season (Which may or may not be released), as the story was left not finished, remaining with a continuing mystery..

Recommendations: With a good story line and a mystery to boot I recommend the following:

  • Zetsuen no Tempest
  • Dantalian no Shoka
  • Danganronpa: Kibou no Gakuen to Zetsubou no Koukousei The Animation
